Momentum

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

This time of year seems to have a tendancy of offering new challenges. As the world snuggles into fall I’m usually found cuddling up to my drawing table. Here’s my latest challenge. Let me tell you painting on high gloss plastic was interesting, but a blast! It’s turned out beautifully.

The helmet will be auctioned off on Friday, September 10th at Longboard Living (74 Oxford St., Toronto, ON). 8 p.m. Come say hi and grab yourself an artist painted helmet to surf the streets in style.

Brained

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

PHEW! The move is complete and the studio is in mostly working order. I’m so happy I could burst! However, instead of messing up my fantastic new digs by exploding on them I focused my energy on painting.

Here are the promised progress shots of the helmet for the Toronto Longboard Meet. I just completed this sucker last night so expect photo’s of the finished Brainsaver later this week. It was a fun challenge and I’m tickled pink by the results.

Let her ride…

Pretty simple update this week. Although packing has me nearly cross-eyed I’m still painting and super excited about this new project. A Brain Saver helmet for Longboard Living, Think First and Triple 8 to be auctioned off at the Toronto Board Meet on September 11th. The lady above is the sketch for one side of the helmet. Keep an eye out for progress shots!

Really? Yes, really.

Here I go again! I’m moving for the LAST TIME, well at least the last time this year. It’s been a tough four months between moving, new jobs and generally restructuring life. Things have been chaotic and, to say the least, trying. But karma has been there to remind me that hard work and perseverance are rewarded. It all pays off in the end.

Two more weeks and the studio will be back in full force. It’s going to be like sliding into a hot bath after a long day. Pure bliss.

P.S. The painting sale is still afoot… more work to be added next week.

Mindless Self Indulgence

I’ve opened up a tumblr account for all the inane tidbits I wish to share but don’t fit in here. Check it out.

You can get updates on my new posts both on here and tumblr through my twitter account.

Let the social media frenzy BEGIN!

Good Golly!

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Recently I’ve been meeting quite a few new people and going through the standard getting-to-know-you questionnaires. One of the questions that is a getting-to-know-you eventuality is the question of siblings. Do you have them? How many? When I was younger this always gave me pause. I do have a sister, well half-sister, if you need to get technical. As I child I wasn’t sure if I should. As an adult the answer is simple: I have a sister and she is my hero. Please check out her portfolio, her blog and her infinite skills of organization. It annoyed me when I was younger. Now, I stand in awe and admiration.

PS – Check back Monday for some new work!

Lazy Like Sunday Morning

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

I have mixed feelings about today.

The morning started off as any worthwhile Sunday should. A slow bleary eyed wake up, mumbled exchanges debating where to find a solid plate of bacon all finished off with the eating of said bacon and the drinking of a half a pot of coffee. A good morning, no? Not bad at all. But this one was a little different, a little lonelier. Not because of lack of company, let it be known the company was stellar, but because of the happenings outside our cozy little breakfast.

You see this addiction to greasy spoon breakfasts on lazy Sunday mornings is a hereditary addiction, it comes from my mother and today, my mother moves out of the city. Yup, I’m a mommy’s girl, through and through. For the past 26 years we have lived in the same city. Although, I debated going to away to school and she sometimes drove me crazy enough to make me consider leaving the continent, it never happened, until now. I’m happy and excited for her and will enjoy the new adventure of living sans parental unit in the city, but I will miss our weekly trips to the market and our coveted greasy spoon breakfasts…

Spring Cleaning…in July

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Some of you (There must be at least three people reading this…Hi, Mom!) may have noticed, or know already, that I recently moved. While not a pleasant experience, lets be honest moving rarely is, there have been some fantastic happenings to balance things out.

One of these move related happenings I’ve enjoyed: The cleanse. The purging of material items you have not used, touched, or in some cases don’t remember at all. Basically, If you haven’t touched it in over 6 months, TOSS IT! For example: the ukulele you bought to learn ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ but never progressed beyond the first bar or the burnt orange sweater from that sale on Boxing Day you still haven’t worked up the nerve to wear. What’s the point of this little rant? Well, In the process of my purge, somewhere in between the burnt orange sweater and my collection of unused bath products (Seriously, how many loofahs does one person require?) I realized I have many a painting without a home! And the space for them in my home is quickly becoming non-existent. So, dear readers (Maybe four people by the time I’ve finished writing this…Hi, Dad!) I’m having a painting sale! Please stop by the page and check it out! I need some room to store more work and my landlord wouldn’t mind a rent check now and again.

Prices and sizes are below the images and I am more than happy to ship or personally deliver the works. Just call or email me and we’ll get it in your hot little hands. So click the painting and GO SHOPPING!

Hello Stranger….

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Been a while hasn’t it? It’s been a hectic few weeks but don’t you worry, I haven’t forgotten about you. In fact here’s a wee something to feast your eyes on….

Thanks to Sam Motala for the Photo!

A simple update…

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

It’s the simple things in life that get me through the day. Chocolate, bicycles, dancing monkeys, it doesn’t take a lot to amuse me. Take for example this top hat sporting hamster. He is not a complicated fellow, a simple german wunder hamster taking his daily excercise…

Yes indeed, we are amused.
