Remember last week when I talked about my super busy schedule? That doesn’t mean I’m not taking on clients, quite the opposite in fact! Bring on the fun!

Last week, in between assignments and paintings, I had a chance to work with Phillip Mondor and the lovely folks at Somerset Graphics to promote their latest printer. Four illustrators, including myself, were asked to create patterns for the inner flaps of note books to the theme of Genius (The name of Somerset’s new baby). From start to finish these took approximately 48 hours, it was crazy amounts of fun and I’m so happy with the results I’m going to give you the whole process, blow by blow.

I let you all in on a little known secret, I went back to school five weeks ago. No, no I will not be abandoning illustration, in fact I’m working to expand that skill set, by taking some courses in Communication Design at OCADU. While this is seriously exciting stuff and I’m having a blast it has taken a huge chunk of my time, leading me to neglect you sweet folks. While, I can’t promise this won’t be the dominant pattern over the next year, I can promise that I will update you all as much as I can.

That being said, here’s some work I did for Indulge Ice Cream in Kitchener Waterloo area. Indulge is keeping hands and tummies happy all winter long with Waffle Stacks and needed some super spokes animals and some fancy type to help him spread the word…

It’s winter again. Every year when the cold first sets in I’m okay with it. I find myself thinking “My what a good Canadian I am, walking to work in the cold and smiling all the way. Bring on the snow!”. Then January hits, inevitably the heat in my building fails, I sit in my living room wrapped in blankets, wearing a polar fleece robe covered in teddy bears I’ve had since 1994, three pairs of socks and a toque, fake fireplace running full blast. My what a good Canadian I am.

But despite it all, this year I’m not in the living room, but in the studio, still wrapped in blankets and the heats not working, but I am.

A little spring cleaning…

It’s spring … sort of (If your in Toronto then your rolling your eyes right along with me) and felt time for a little face lift and update. A few new pieces have been added and the site is, for all intents and purposes, complete. Keep an eye out for a store in the future with books, prints and shiny bits of swag for your consumption.

Things are exciting over in this neck of the woods. Lots happening and lots on the brink. But for now here’s the latest tid bits:

Get out your kama sutra and head over to the Bait Shop Gallery on Feb. 13 (8pm – 12am) for the X and O Show: A Public Display of Affection .There will be a show with a list of amazing artists as long as my arm, a silent auction of the works, and they let me tack up a few pieces. Come out and support the Toronto Rape Crisis Center and Lover Mag.

In digital news, big thanks to the crew over at Creep Machine for the write -up last week. Truly flattering.

On a side note, finishstrongfamily.com has launched and the response is good. Head on over there and check these guys out. They’re a groups of insanely talented people with an amazing company, truly a pleasure to work with them on this. Next on the block taminoa.com ….
